Pālehua Ranch
In the ahupuaʻa of Honouliuli, O‘ahu, the Olson Trust stewards over 2,000 acres of conservation and agricultural land with many historical and archeological sites. It envisions for this acreage a careful reforestation of native plants, resource conservation, and preservation of the sites.
Partners In Conservation
The expertise and energy of our partners enable us to co-create positive change for the land and people of Hawaiʻi. Olson Trust company Pālehua Ranch LLC, stewards 1,275 acres that have been granted a conservation easement with Hawaiian Islands Land Trust. In partnership with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Trust is at work on a soil and water conservation plan for the land. Half an acre has been donated to build a nursery for native plants, in partnership with Friends of Honouliuli and Mālama Learning Center for the benefit of the mountain.
Hokuloa
A parcel within Pālehua is the 12-acre Hokuloa property. Active invasive-species eradication and native species preservation is underway. To accommodate volunteer groups who share the Trust’s vision, Hokuloa’s grounds and facilities are being restored. Research and development of alternative energy resources are also being explored.
Telecommunications Sites
In addition to conservation work, Pālehua Ranch LLC manages 879 agricultural acres that host functioning telecommunication sites, including leases for eight cell towers and TV and radio stations.
